I will be competing in the Pirelli British Superstock 1000 Championship on my Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki ZX10R. I am really looking forward to getting back out on the bike and pushing for some strong results this year, as I know I am capable of performing much better than my results in 2012.

We have got some testing in Spain booked to get the bike set up for the new tyres and get back into the swing of things, so I am hoping by the time we get to the first round at Brands Hatch in April we will be ready to roll.

I will keep you informed on how the season going on the website and Facebook and in the mean time I will look forward to seeing you at some of the British Superbike rounds this year.

Cheers

After parting with Ducati at Brands Hatch, we have been working hard to try and find a ride for the rest of the season. I had discussions with a handful of team managers about riding different bikes in all sorts of classes at British championship level; however it was AP Kawasaki that offered me a ride on a Kawasaki for the rest of the season in British Superstock 1000 on a Kawasaki ZX10R.

Cadwell was the first round for me on the Kawasaki and I knew it was going to be a struggle as I had done very little in the way of track time on the new bike. We had a good free practice session as I managed to slowly build up speed as I got more and more used to the bike. I went faster in each session we had but only managed to qualify 23rd for the race.

When race day came, I was confident I could go quicker and improve on my qualifying position. I got away from the line well and circulated for the first few laps slightly off the pace as I felt I was still learning the bike. As the race went on I started feeling more comfortable with the bike and getting quicker and quicker, and despite losing time avoiding a fallen rider directly in front of me, I started to catch the group ahead of me. Unfortunately as I was about to start passing them, the red flag came out and the race was stopped. I was gutted because I knew that if the full race distance had been run, I could have moved a handful of places further up the field.

Although I would have liked to have finished a bit higher in the race at Cadwell, I feel it was a successful weekend in many ways, as I have learnt a lot about how to ride the Kawasaki and gelled with the new team well. The next round is at Donigton Park where I hope to have a good ride and get back into a points-scoring positon!

I was confident that we could improve on our position from Cadwell as each time I rode the bike I felt stronger on it.

Practice and qualifying went well as all our sessions were dry and I managed to qualify 14th which I was happy with as I knew there was more to come from the bike and my riding.

I got a poor start in the race and did a massive wheelie which lost me a few places on the run down to the first corner. I started getting moving through the field for the first few laps but then the safety car came out so I had to wait in about 18th place. When the safety car pulled in I started over taking again, but we only got about two laps before there was another accident that caused it to be deployed once again. When it pulled in for the final time I knew there were only a few laps left to get past as many other bikes as I could. I passed three on the last lap and as a couple crashed out on the last corner I was able to finish the race in 9th. The team were all really happy with the progress we had made since Cadwell, and getting a top ten result and some solid points was a great way to finish off what was a good weekend.

This weekend was a massive team effort and I would like to give a special thank you to all at AP Kawasaki and Transwaste for making this successful weekend possible.

After a good result at the first Oulton Park round earlier this year we were hoping for good things this weekend when we arrived at Oulton Park again, for the seventh round of the British Superstock 1000 Championship.

Conditions in the qualifying sessions were tricky but I managed to qualify in 15th place. I would have liked to have started a bit closer to the front but I knew I could get some good points from there.

On race day the heavens opened so we prepared the bike for a wet race. I noticed on the warm up laps that there was some oil on parts of the track so was half expecting to see some fallers on the first lap! I got a good start and was surprised to see relatively few people go down on the first lap. I felt really good with the bike and started pushing on and passing a few riders until on lap three, when I tried to pass Connor Cummins and he defended by turning in, in front of me leaving me nowhere to go but into the back of him, which then sent me crashing into the gravel, snapping the handle bar and forcing me to retire from the race.

I was so annoyed at myself for crashing because I felt really confident in the bike with the wet set up and I felt I could push on and score some good points. Luckily the race was stopped early because conditions got too bad and so only half points were awarded so I didn’t lose out as much as I ordinarily would.

Hopefully I can make up for this at the next round at Brands Hatch GP and pay the team back for all their hard work with a strong performance and a good result, that I know we are capable of.

I knew it was going to be difficult, as I had done very little on the new Snetterton 300 circuit, but I was up for the challenge!

My provisional grid position after first qualifying was 9thhowever despite going faster in the second session; I dropped back to 14, as a handful of other riders went faster still.

I was determined to have a good finish and get some points so concentrated really hard to get the bike off the line well and make up some places into the first corner. I managed to pass a few bikes, but unfortunately got blocked by a rider who ended up running far too wide so lost about ten places. I was really frustrated because I knew that to get back into the points would be really, really hard work. I found it really hard to get into a rhythm because I constantly had to catch and pass slower riders, but once I got going I was able to get the hammer down and pass more and more bikes. I finished the race in fourteenth, where I had qualified, so did manage to bag a couple of championship points despite hoping for a better result.

I need to improve my qualifying as I know I have the race pace, however I’m starting too far back which is causing me to get tangled up in other peoples mess, ruining my chances of a good result. Hopefully we can address this at the next round at Oulton Park and repeat the success we enjoyed there earlier this year.
